Poem included in A Canadian Anthology of Poetry:
You masked within the rhubarb, the strawberries,
your red hair and sun-kissed skin a veil of delight
Our gray forms replaced by a greenness, a springtide
Devotion’s flame furling in our sensibilities
I call your name
A blue jay answers
Your laugh is my emotion, my attachment, my enchantment
I climb upon your form with regard and you kiss me
A cherished, able kiss from a vigorous and enduring mouth
Open and forceful
A courage that would last within the entanglement,
the vividness, the acceptance of memory
